Rulings on Combining Prayers While Travelling

Travel is among the circumstances in which Allah has lightened the obligations of His servants. One of these concessions (rukhsah) is the permissibility of combining the Dhuhr and Asr prayers, and the Maghrib and Isha prayers, when a person is on a journey.

“Allah loves that His concessions be taken, just as He loves that His commands be obeyed.”

When is combining permitted?

The majority of scholars hold that combining prayers is permitted for the traveller, whether he is actually on the road or has stopped at a place temporarily. The evidence for this is the authentic narrations describing the practice of the Prophet ﷺ during his journeys.
